At least 27 people died and around 15 injured when a passenger bus carrying them fell into a drain in India's northern state Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning, confirmed a state government source.
The bus was reportedly heading towards Delhi from Uttar Pradesh's capital city Lucknow. The mishap occurred near the Agra city in the wee hours of Monday morning, said Agra District Magistrate N.G. Ravi Kumar.
He added "The bus fell into an around 50-feet deep drain. 27 dead bodies have been recovered from the accident site so far, and around 15 injured people have been admitted in a local hospital."
According to him, the rescue and relief work is still going on at the accident site.
