A woman from Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality was told she couldn't bring a live chicken on the city's subway system, so she slaughtered the bird on the spot.

The middle-aged woman was stopped by subway staff when she attempted to bring a live chicken onto the subway, The Paper reported on Sunday citing a video of the weird incident that caught a lot of attention on social media.

No pets or fowl are allowed on subways, according to Chongqing regulations, but dead chickens are considered food and are allowed, the report said.

The woman held her chicken over a rubbish bin and slaughtered it, turning the live bird into raw meat.

Officials didn't provide additional information when reached by reporters.

Many netizens seemd to support the woman with one saying she had made a smart move to get around the subway's regulation.

Others said the slaughtering was cleanly done, and didn't stain the station with blood or feathers.
