Police in Maoming, South China's Guangdong Province haven't confirmed whether a man seen in a video clinging high up the outside of an apartment building made it down alive.

The shocking video shows a man using the pressure of only his arms and legs to support himself spread-eagle in a crevice in the building's structure at the eighth or ninth floor. The video shows it is likely impossible for the man to climb out of a window and there no structures or ledge that he can rest upon.

The video posted by Feng Video on Sina Weibo on Thursday provided no information about how or why the man was in such a dangerous position.

The video also shows the man somehow managed to use his right hand to talk on his mobile phone.

Local police issued a notice later saying that they have not received a report on the matter or any information about whether the man is still alive, but promise they will pay close attention to the case.

"Maybe he was having an affair and his lover's husband suddenly came back home," one commented.

"I don't think it is appropriate to make irresponsible assumptions," said another. "He must have been too scared and I only hope he is ok."
