Japanese PM meets senior CPC official on interparty exchanges

Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama met Wednesday with Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on exchanges of ruling parties between Japan and China.

During the talks, Hatoyama, who is also president of ruling Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ), lauded the fruits reaped from the exchange activities between the two ruling parties.

He said that the DPJ-led Japanese government attaches great importance to its Asian diplomacy and it is his political belief to comprehensively push forward Japan-China strategic and mutually beneficial relations in spirit of "properly handling history and facing towards the future."

Hatoyama also expressed his hope that the two ruling parties further promote contacts and exchanges to provide solid support for Japan-China friendly and cooperative relations.

Wang, for his part, briefed the Japanese premier on the current situation of the Chinese economy as well as China's standpoints on international and regional issues.

Wang, who headed a visiting CPC delegation, attended the third meeting of the exchange mechanism between the CPC and the DPJ Tuesday and Wednesday.
