The Russian Foreign Ministry on Saturday dismissed an allegation by the US government that forced labor was used at the Olympic construction venues in Sochi.

Foreign ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said Moscow was confused by a recently published US State Department report on human trafficking that mentioned the so-called "forced labor" used in Sochi.

The authors have acknowledged the report was based on "anecdotal evidence," which indicated its biased nature and politicized intention, Lukashevich told reporters.

The Olympstroy state corporation, contractor of the Sochi Olympic venues, had already made a "full and complete" comment on the issue, the spokesman said. He added that working conditions at the construction sites were closely monitored by public and supervisory bodies.

According to Olympstroy's website, the company was in charge of building the infrastructure for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic games as well as additional development of the Black Sea resort.
