The family and friends of a 5-year-old boy, who died of leukemia last Wednesday after his father refused to donate his bone marrow, attended the boy's funeral at Babaoshan Cemetery Sunday, the Legal Mirror reported.

The boy's father, surnamed Hu, was found to be a compatible donor last August, but Hu refused to donate his marrow and also stopped paying the child's daily expenses in May. The boy's mother sued Hu, and the court ordered him to pay monthly child support of 3,000 yuan ($479) from October.

Hu did not attend his son's funeral.
