The talks of missile defense deployment between Russia and the US have stalled, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said Monday.

"The situation is a stalemate. There is no advance. Our concerns have been ignored," Antonov told reporters during a news briefing.

According to Antonov, the defense ministers of Russia and the U. S. are going to meet in 2013 with the focus on anti-missiles deployment and Afghanistan.

"In the start of the next year we'll decide when and where our ministers can meet," he added.

The situation in Afghanistan disturbed Moscow very much. "We are very much worried about what will be happening in that region after 2014 when the international forces leave Afghanistan," the official said.

As for the implementation of the new START treaty, Moscow was satisfied with the cooperation with Washington, he added.

According to the official, 64 inspections, including 34 by Russian inspection teams, have been carried out since the treaty came into force.
