Seven out of 10 Greeks are to welcome 2013 feeling pessimistic over their finances and the national economy in coming months, two latest opinion polls showed.

About 71 percent of respondents for the "Kapa Research" survey for "To Vima" (The Tribune) daily said that they do not feel more hopeful for the future, despite the disbursement of more international bailout to the country in December from the European Union and International Monetary Fund lenders.

Some 64 percent expect 2013 to be worse than 2012 and approximately 76.5 percent strongly support Greece's continued membership of the euro.

Pessimism remains the prevailing feeling among Greek people who have seen their income and living standard dropping after two years of austerity imposed by the government to tackle the debt crisis, according to another survey conducted by poll firm ALCO on behalf of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).

But for the first time since 2010, the ALCO poll recorded a slight decrease in the index of pessimism in comparison to previous surveys.

The poll found 71 percent of Greeks are pessimistic about Greece's economy, down from 80 percent in October and in regards to their personal finances, about 74 percent expressed pessimism, down from 83 percent in October.

ACCI experts commented that the difference is likely linked to the renewed pledges from lenders that they will continue to support Greece's efforts to boost development and reverse recession.

An overwhelming 77 percent of respondents in the ALCO poll said that they want Greece to stay in the euro.
