Two men were arrested by Haidian district prosecutors Monday for attempting to use a blowtorch to crack open a bank ATM, according to the Beijing Evening News Monday.

A man surnamed Du and his friend surnamed Shang, both from Shandong Province, cased out a branch of a bank in Haidian on January 18, and returned two days later to rob it at 3 am. After trying to open the ATM's cash reserve for an hour, the blowtorch's oxygen supply ran out and they gave up. They were arrested in Shandong on January 22.
