Blind singer Liu Hongquan was barred from entering the Central Conservatory of Music, Xicheng district Thursday as he was accompanied by his guide dog, according to the Beijing Morning Post.

He was scheduled to give a performance in the university that evening. The professor, surnamed Zhou, who was in charge of the performance, said that lots of students were taking classes that night and the classrooms were filled with students from 4 to 9 pm, so out of safety considerations, they did not let the dog in.

Most students said that they were not worried about having a guide dog on campus. The concert later took place in a courtyard.

According to a Chinese law passed in 2012, guide dogs are allowed access to all public places in the country.
