A pet owner sued a pet store for 60,000 yuan because her two dogs died of heatstroke in July while in the store's care, the Beijing Evening News reported.

The German shepherd and Samoyed were owned by a woman surnamed Shao, who said her dogs suffered heatstroke in the trunk of the car while being transported to the pet store. She claimed the  store was unlicensed, and their failure to take her dogs to the pet hospital on time led to their deaths. The pet store said the cause of death required further investigation. The case is pending in Changping district court.
