On December 20, the first-ever China UGC (User-Generated Content) Communication Awards, presented by Ku6.com, Sina and Zhejiang Satellite TV, will assemble online celebrities in an offline venue to compete with each other on popularity for a cash prize of $168,000.

The carnival gala will include writers and cartoonists who are enormously popular online, some of whom will be stepping into the spotlight for the first time, as well as ordinary citizens who have gained fame for their self-filmed video clips.

The China UGC Communication Awards is the culmination of an interactive media promotion that has encouraged people to record and share their daily lives online. The event will also coincide with the presentation of UGC statistics that offer a comprehensive view of online popularity as measured by the numbers of users who upload original content and repost content.

Other online stars scheduled to participate in this competition include a balancing master who lifts a tree branch with a feather, and a Chinese-American pole-dancer. These candidates will perform for the viewers at the awards ceremony. Then it will be up to the audience to decide which competitor deserves the award for highest popularity.

As a pioneer in promoting UGC statistics, Ku6.com has been dedicated to discovering stars online and broadcasting positive content. The upcoming awards ceremony will reveal to the public who the most influential online personality in China is and who has captured the most public attention in 2013.
