Olympic Truce Wall unveiled in Sochi

An Olympic Truce Wall was unveiled in the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi on Tuesday on the eve of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak and other officials and athletes.

"Sport breaks all the walls. People of different nations and religions live here together in harmony, thanks to the Olympic Games. They show that the world may live in peace despite all the differences," Bach said during the ceremony.

The Olympic Games are a perfect reason for the politicians and all conflicting sides to forget about their conflicts, Kozak said.

"This Olympic traditions is getting more and more sought and needed in the dynamically changing world," he stressed.

Bach, Kozak, former IOC chief Jaques Rogge, President of Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov, head of Sochi 2014 Steering Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko and other sports officials left their signatures on the Truce Wall.
