Norway announced on Monday that it will give 11 million kroner (1.83 million US dollars) to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for providing food to war-affected people in Syria.
The announcement came after Norwegian Foreign Minister Borge Brende met with Yves Daccord, director-general of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Brende and Daccord discussed the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Syria.
Over 9 million people reportedly need humanitarian assistance in the war-torn Syria. But, the conflicts make it difficult to reach those who need help.
Brende said that he was impressed with what the Red Cross and Red Crescent workers have been doing under very demanding and difficult conditions in Syria.
Brende also praised all volunteers who take huge risk to help those in need.
