A least nine people were killed and several others injured on Wednesday in a multi-vehicle crash on the highway of Konya city in central Turkey, local Dogan News Agency reported.

The report said that the driver allegedly fell asleep while driving a truck, and the vehicle was driven to the opposite lane and crushed with a bus with passengers on board.

The accident caused seven killed at the scene and two others died later in the hospital, the report said, adding two of ten injured are in serious condition.

An investigation was underway.
