Madagascar's national carrier, Air Madagascar, continues to be suspended from flying to the European Union, the latest decision by the European Commission said.

The decision was taken by a committee comprised of air safety experts from each of the 28 EU member states as well as Norway, Switzerland and the European Air Safety Agency (AESA) that met between March 25-27.

Air Madagascar was categorized in Class B of the list together with nine other airlines that were authorized to fly to EU in very strict conditions.

In April 2011, Air Madagascar's two Boeing 767-300s flying from Antananarivo to Paris and Marseille were prevented from flying to any other European destination due to major safety breaches.

In 2012, Air Madagascar was forced to hire two Airbus A340-300s from Air France together with their crew members in order to continue flying to the European destination.

Air Madagascar is expected to hire Boeing 767s from EuroAtlantic to continue flying between Antananarivo and Marseille.
