At the April 10 press conference held by the Press Office of Beijing Municipal People's Government, it was announced that Beijing is planning to build the first intellectual property court in China; some of the initial steps - including intellectual property case management and structural establishment - have already been accomplished, the Beijing Daily reported.

Last year, more than 14,000 cases regarding intellectual property were heard in Beijing, which gives the city a solid foundation in building the court.

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Copyright also announced that, in order to protect music copyright, it has built a supervisory system that includes China's first industrial music copyright basic database as well as the first authorized music trade platform.
