The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on Friday supported the call for an independent international investigation of the Malaysia Airlines plane crash in eastern Ukraine.

According to the OSEC declaration adopted by the its permanent council, the OSCE called upon people in the plane crash area to preserve the crash site intact, and supported the independent and transparent investigation of the case.

The OSCE said around 30 monitors have arrived at the crash site to observe the crash case, but due to the poor infrastructure in the region, they found hard to report the situation to their headquarters.

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, a Boeing 777, was en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when it went down Thursday in eastern Ukraine with 298 passengers and crew aboard. There were no survivors.

According to earlier reports, US officials said that they concluded the plane was shot down by a surface-to-air missile. Investigations are under way to figure out what happened to the plane.
