French President Francois Hollande said Saturday that any hindrance of the investigation over Malaysia Airlines' crashed plane in Ukraine can not be tolerated.

Hollande made the comments during a phone call with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Saturday afternoon, according to a statement released by the Elysee.

They both stressed the crucial importance of establishing clear evidence of facts in order to draw all the consequences of this terrible tragedy.

For this purpose, any hindrance to the work of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) investigators or observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe can not be tolerated. As requested by the UN, they must proceed without delay to the international investigation that will help establish the truth.

The two leaders agreed to continue their joint work and stay in close contact, the statement said.

The Boeing 777 passenger plane of the Malaysia Airlines crashed in eastern Ukraine en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard.

The Ukrainian government and insurgents in eastern Ukraine traded accusations over the crash. The insurgents said Ukrainian forces shot down the flight, while Kiev said its armed forces did not fire at any flying object in the region where the plane crashed.
