Export of weapons and military equipment from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to Ukraine is not in the interests of BiH, the BiH Presidency said on Wednesday.

"Export (of weapons) does not contribute to regional security, stability and current international diplomatic efforts to achieve a peaceful solution to the crisis in Ukraine," it said.

It noted the crisis in Ukraine can be solved only by peaceful, democratic means, through political dialogue and negotiations with full respect for international law.

Company "Unis" from Sarajevo concluded a contract with Ministry of Interior Affairs from Ukraine in September 2014 to sell weapons and ammunition worth 5 million euros (5.65 million US dollars) to Ukraine.

Since then, "Unis" had been waiting for legal approval from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations (MOFTER) of the Council of Ministers (CoM) of BiH.

Minister Boris Tucic resigned last month after refusing to clear the Unis deal.
