Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk announced Wednesday that Kiev is planning to discuss a "summer package" of natural gas supplies with Russia and the European Union (EU) next week.

"On March 20, we are planning to hold the three-party talks over natural gas supplies to Ukraine," Yatsenyuk told a cabinet meeting.

During the negotiations, Kiev would seek a price of 250 US dollars to 300 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters for gas to be delivered to Ukraine starting from April, Yatsenyuk said.

Under a "winter package", which runs out on March 31, Kiev pays 329 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters of gas it imports from Russia in the first quarter of 2015.

The "winter package" reached between the two sides last October in Brussels under the mediation of the EU, has allowed the resumption of Russian gas supply to Ukraine after an almost five-month gas cutoff.

In June 2014, Russia stopped all gas supplies to Ukraine as the two sides failed to reach an agreement on payments.
