Beijing Center for Diseases Prevention and Control (BCDA) announced that the use of safety seats in Beijing's urban area is less than 50 percent and this figure decreases to less than 30 percent in rural areas, the Beijing News reported. BCDA surveyed over 2,500 families in six Beijing districts and counties.

A similar poll of 4,350 parents with children under 13 years old in five of China's largest cities found that only 19.7 percent of them have used a child safety seat, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China.

Starting from September 1, the government will compulsorily give the safety seats producers the 3C certification and those without it are banned from producing the seats.
