The Beijing Health Inspection Institution has announced that this week's tobacco control enforcement is being further intensified, especially in indoor and outdoor areas around hospitals and other health care institutions for children and women, the Beijing News reported.

The regulators have already collected about 100,000 yuan in fines from violators since the smoking ban was put into effect on June 1, but the institution plans to come down even harder with fines at an upwards of 5,000 yuan per person. Thirty-five groups of law enforcement officers have been sent out all over Beijing to ensure people are following the new non-smoking rules.
