An earthquake of 5.2 magnitude on the Richter scale hit western Greece on Monday near the town of Zacharo in the Peloponnese peninsula, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.

No injuries or serious material damages have been reported to local authorities.

Greek seismologists revised upwards an earlier preliminary estimate of 5.1 given by the experts of the EuroMediterranean Seismic Institute.

The tremor's epicenter was located at an area about 200 kilometers southwest of Athens at a depth of about 10 kilometers and was felt across the peninsula and suburbs of the Greek capital.
