Professor Li Xiguang of Tsinghua University elaborates pictures to the guests in the photo exhibition titled Cultural Trekking along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor on Thursday.

On the eve of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, a photo exhibition titled Cultural Trekking along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and a story sharing event were held at Tsinghua University Thursday.

The pictures in the exhibition highlighted memorable moments of Tsinghua professor Li Xiguang’s Class in the Caravan, a journalism course stressing on-site learning and cross-cultural communication. Li’s course, in its 17th year now, has involved over 500 Tsinghua students and five trips to Pakistan.

The Iron-Brother relationship between China and Pakistan, established 65 years ago by China’s former Chairman Mao Zedong, former premier Zhou Enlai and former Pakistan president Mohammed Ayub Khan, is increasingly strong, said Han Jingyang, vice provost of Tsinghua University. Now such special ties have been extended to students from the two countries, demonstrated by courses such as Class in the Caravan. Tsinghua University admits some 20 students from Pakistan every year for its graduate and post-graduate programs.

Masood Khalid, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, expressed his appreciation of China’s universities efforts in promoting bilateral ties, for example, the Urdu language courses offered at Peking and Tsinghua universities.
