Commemorating the new appointment of Japanese Ambassador to China Yutaka Yokoi, an inaugural reception took place at the Japanese Embassy in Beijing on June 17. Hundreds of people attended the event. In his opening remarks, Yokoi noted that this is his fifth assignment in China. The new ambassador said Japan-China relations have developed into a relationship between two of the largest economic powers in the world. "Japan and China both have to forge new relations that are appropriate to the new era and beneficial to both," he said. Yokoi also expressed his wish to have heart-to-heart discussions with Chinese people in various fields, in every region and of every generation.
