When asked about the hot debated issue whether major economies, including China, the US, Europe and Japan, are bottoming out of the crisis, Mr. Jurgens thinks without focus on the prediction of “when”, we need to focus on the “what”, and what can individual business leaders do actually help contribute to the growth. He thinks in this case Dalian will be a good opportunity to exchange ideas of what we can do.
Mr. Jurgens also gives suggestions for Chinese companies that are eager to play in the global market. He said going global is rather a mindset than an actual business practice. Companies can go global by their business model. They can actually tap the international financial markets by financing many Chinese companies listed overseas to raise capital. And they can bring in many international talents with different experiences, and work with international partners and suppliers.
The Dalian forum is just opportunity for Chinese entrepreneurs to meet many foreign CEOs, foreign media and academic scientists without having to leave too far, which is, going global without going overseas.
He added that this forum will highlight the important role of Asia playing as a whole.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) is a Geneva-based non-profit foundation best known for its annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland which brings together top business leaders, international political leaders, selected intellectuals and journalists to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world including health and the environment. The Forum also organizes the "Annual Meeting of the New Champions" in China and a series of regional meetings throughout the year.
The World Economic Forum's Community of Global Growth Companies (GGC) was formed in 2007 to engage dynamic high-growth companies with the potential to be tomorrow's industry leaders and to become a driving force of economic and social change. As of July 2009, more than 200 companies from over 50 countries had been admitted to the GGC Community. The Forum selects companies on the basis of their revenue, growth rate, internationalization and leadership.
