Stir-fried vegetables

According to the customs in southern China, a dish of stir-fried vegetables is a must, as vegetables in Chinese can be called qingcai which sounds similar with qin re meaning being intimate. Bean sprouts are another essential part of the meal, because its shape is like ruyi which means “as one wishes” in Chinese, a kind of cultural object representing good luck and fortune.
