No problem for Thai-made Toyota Altis

Toyota Motor Corporation's latest recall of 1.3 million vehicles of Corolla models in North America did not affect any Corolla Altis models manufactured and distributed in Thailand, said Toyota Motor Thailand's senior vice president Tuesday.
  
Toyota Motor Corp. on Aug. 26 said it would recall 1.3 million Corolla and Matrix cars produced during the year 2005 through 2008 in North America and Mexico because of defective engine control modules that could cause the vehicle to stall.
  
The recall of the Corolla and Matrix cars adds to the 11 million vehicles Toyota has recalled in the past year, mostly for unintended acceleration.
  
Toyota's senior vice-president Vichien Emprasertsuk said engine control modules used in Thaimade Corolla Altis are different type and were manufactured by different suppliers from those in North America and Mexico so Altis models are not affected.
