Tirana Photo Festival 2019 kicked off in the Albanian capital on Tuesday evening at the National Historical Museum with a photo exhibition and a contest with the theme of "promoting Albania's cultural and natural heritages through photography."

This year is the second edition of Tirana Photo Festival, an event that celebrates the art of photography and promotes Albania. The festival is organized by Destination Management Organization (DMO) Albania based in Tirana and is taking place this year from Tuesday to October 15.

The DMO director and organizer of the festival, Eva Kushova, told the Xinhua News Agency that while 2018's festival focused on the promotion of the capital city Tirana, this year will focus on the promotion of the cultural and natural heritages of Albania.

"From May 1 to September 1, photographers were invited to send their photos for the festival. More than 1,000 photos were accepted, and only 100 of them were chosen for the exhibition," Kushova said.

The curator of the exhibition Elton Koritari told Xinhua that this is an exhibition that puts together the best of all the findings of potential photographers in Albania.

During the festival, workshops and photo walks will be held.
