A bridegroom got a lot of laughs at his wedding reception after his best buddy made him wear a vest and a cap he had made of plastic wrap with some 1,000 one-yuan coins worth about $141.

The groom's friend surnamed Zhang, from Zhengzhou, Central China's Henan Province, made the vest, cap and a baton by wrapping China's one-yuan coins in clear plastic.

"I wanted his wedding to be unforgettable, so I got 1,000 one-yuan coins from the bank. The night before the wedding I spent four hours making my masterpiece," Zhang told the Pear Video.

Zhang made his own video of the process he went through making his distinctive and distinctly odd wedding gift. The video shows him weighing the bag of coins he got from the bank, revealing that 1,000 one-yuan coins weigh about 6 kilograms.

"I promise I will give you something different at your wedding too," the bridegroom tells Zhang in a video posted online, while waving a baton made of a long roll of coins.

Zhang said he and the groom have been best friends since 2011 when they were in high school. "I hope he will always remember his wedding and me, his good friend," Zhang said, noting that he is still single.

"I really want a friend like that. His little gift shows their brotherly friendship," said a netizen on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo.
