BYD blade battery

China's leading new-energy vehicle manufacturer BYD has developed an iron battery product described as "the blade battery", which will be mass-produced starting in March, Chairman Wang Chuanfu said at the China EV100 Forum on Saturday.

The volumetric specific energy density of "the blade battery" - how much energy a system contains in comparison with its volume - is 50 percent more than traditional iron batteries. The new product features high safety and a long life. "The blade battery" will be first installed in BYD's Han series, which will go on sale in June with a range of 600 kilometers.

AI finds the missing

Technology company Baidu announced that its artificial intelligence (AI) people search platform has conducted more than 390,000 comparisons of information of missing people and helped more than 10,000 families reunite as of January 1.

The AI tracing service was launched by Baidu at the end of 2016, and it has been used in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and several organizations for databases. Its advanced facial recognition technology has drastically improved the efficiency of searches.
