Chinese fans of Jung have prepared for months to celebrate the South Korean star J-Hope's 26th birthday on Tuesday. But the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pneumonia has disrupted their plans.

"We donated the funds we originally raised to organize activities in three different cities in China to a charity foundation which is sending medical goods," said Yiyi (pseudonym), an administrator for J-Hope's Chinese fanclub, Baidu_jhopebar.

Yiyi said they also donated 500,000 yuan ($71,570) of their birthday celebration fund to the China Youth Development Foundation to build a hospital. The project, however, hasn't been able to start due to the current outbreak, according to Yiyi.

South Korean rapper-dancer Jung Hoseok, better known by his stage name J-Hope, debuted in 2013 with boy band BTS, which has gone on to become a worldwide popular idol group.

"I have been a fan of J-Hope for over four years. He is adorable not only for his gentle and kind personality but also because he is thoughtful and excels in his profession," said Yiyi.

Although much of their money has gone to charitable donations, the club will still promote their idol on electronic billboards of The Reef building in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Videos and pictures celebrating the star's birthday are already on display in a cinema in Seoul and will remain until the end of February. A party for South Korean and Chinese fans had been planned since November 2019, but has now been postponed due to the epidemic.
