Eleven seasons and 250 episodes later, US comedy series Modern Family has bid goodbye to fans across the globe. Many Chinese netizens took to social media to express their love for the show and talk about their favorite moments from the past 11 years.

After the final two episodes of Modern Family aired in the US at 10 am Thursday Beijing time, the related hashtag quickly became one of the hottest search terms on China's Twitter-like Sina Weibo.

Many netizens recalled the many touching and humorous moments on the series on Sina Weibo and expressed their reluctance to say goodbye to this classic work.

"It was not just a comedy for me. The TV series accompanied me throughout my entire youth, and saying goodbye to it means I should say goodbye to my youth now," one netizen commented on Sina Weibo.

"I burst out in tears when I saw the last scene of the TV series, which felt like a close friend bidding goodbye to us and saying, 'Now I have to go and you have grown up. The rest of your life will be all on your own,'" Shujun, a Chinese fan who has watched the entire series, told the Global Times on Thursday.

She said that over its 11 seasons, the series showed audiences what a happy family is and what the different stages of people's lives are like.

There are innocent children who only need to worry about their homework and young people just stepping into society. There are new parents who are always in a flurry when dealing with their newborns and experienced ones who can handle everything and try their best to protect their children. There are also middle-aged people who deal with a variety of troubles every day and senior people who are still fighting against old age.

"Whoever you are and no matter which stage you are in, you can find yourself in Modern Family," she said.

Another Chinese fan who asked to remain anonymous said she has watched previous seasons of the show at least twice now.

"I will never be bored with this series. No matter when I watch it, it feels fresh and interesting," she said.

She noted that she loved how the series allows viewers to experience a warm and nice family time, and inspires them to get along with their relatives and friends.

"I remember many brilliant lines and plots from the series. When I quarrel with my parents, they tell me to calm down and think twice about whether I did something appropriately," the fan noted.

She shared her favorite line from the show: "We do strange things for the people we love. We lie to them, we lie for them. There may be some bumps along the way, but we never stop wanting the best for them."

"This is why I love the series so much," she noted.
