Over 1,000 enterprises have applied for participation in the 3rd China International Import Expo (CIIE), including more than 60 companies signing up for exhibition areas exceeding 600 square meters, organizers said at a news briefing held in Shanghai on Friday.

At present, the commercial exhibition area booked by overseas companies has exceeded the planned area by 60 percent.

According to Shi Huangjun, vice president of the National Exhibition andConvention Center (Shanghai), due to COVID-19 raging across the world, global business dealings have been done via phone calls, video conferencing, and e-mails.

As one of the key attractions of CIIE, the segment of Intelligent Industry and Information Technology is expected to attract a number of leading industry enterprises from the field of global industrial intelligent manufacturing.

Shi Yong, deputy general manager of Admiral Oversea Corporation who attended the promotion said, said that he had been concerned about the preparation of this year's CIIE due to the spreading pandemic.

"However, the organizer has swiftly changed their work mode and followed the exhibitors' requirement. All the work has been proceeding in an orderly manner, which made us relived," Shi said.
