Defending against unfounded allegations by US Assistant Secretary David Stilwell over China's "malign influence" in free societies, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying sent out a series of 15 tweets on Twitter on Monday to refute Stilwell's fallacies.

"A lie repeated is still a lie," Hua wrote, firing back at Stilwell's deeply flawed argument.

On Friday,  the Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Asian and Pacific Affairs of the US delivered a speech at a video conference jointly organized by the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and the Asia Society, feverishly smearing China's normal exchange activities in other countries and making excuses for the unjustified US crackdown on the Confucius Institute, the "Fox Hunt" operation and the Chinese media.

"No one is better at influence, interference and coercion than the US," Hua wrote on Twitter. "In all the areas that Mr Stilwell mentioned in his speech, the US is the real Thanos."

Thanos, is a well-known fictional supervillain who appears in US comic books published by Marvel Comics. The creator of Thanos, Jim Starlin, said in June that US President Donald Trump is "worse than Thanos," as Trump declared himself "the president of law and order" amid violent social movements across the US.

Stilwell also accused China of being "systematically predatory and hegemonic," and that the Communist Party of China (CPC) wants control over public discourse and political decision.

"The US is really good at implementing the 'Attack China' strategy, but really bad at facing up to the reality and handling the COVID-19 pandemic," Hua said, pointing to US' failure in protecting its own people's health.

Over the past week, there have been an average of 80,755 cases in the US per day, an increase of 43 percent from the average two weeks earlier, the New York Times reported.

As of Sunday, more than 9.1 million people in the US have been infected with COVID-19, and more than 229,000 have died from the disease, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Hua pointed out that the US was being hit by internal problems with law, democracy and freedom.

"If the US is truly ruled by law, why do the American people still suffer from excessive police enforcement, gun violence and mass shootings? Why does it maliciously repress Chinese private companies in the name of national security?" asked Hua.

"If the #US is truly democratic, why does it ignore the voice of the majority of its people and watch over 230,000 Americans die from #COVID19 without taking effective measures?"

"If the US is truly free, why did George Floyd cry 'I can't breathe'? Why is Martin Luther King's 'I have a dream' still a dream?"

China has no intention of interfering in US internal affairs, Hua said, dismissing the vicious attack and Stilwell's aim of changing China, "How could the US daydream about changing a major country like China, which has nearly 5 times the size of its population and 20 times the length of its history?"
