The outer packages of two pieces of frozen Johnius carouna products imported from India to Shenyang in Northeast China's Liaoning Province have tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday.

According to the Shenyang Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the two positive samples were found in a van during the detection of imported cold-chain food products.

The local authorities immediately launched an emergency response, carried out an epidemiological investigation, testing and centralized medical observation on contacts, and implemented closed-loop management.

All close contacts of the Johnius carouna and samples from the environment tested negative for the virus and the contaminated goods were sealed off before circulating on the market.

The Shenyang CDC required residents to keep an eye on information released by the government on imported food testing and related prevention and control measures, and not to fabricate, believe or spread rumors. It also reminded consumers to wear masks and use disposable gloves when choosing cold-chain foods.
