Some companies claiming to have the answers to domestic English exams are selling them online and are well-received as some of the exams will be held later this month.
The domestic English exams include CET (College English Test) 4 and 6 in June and December, and TEM (Test for English Major) 4 and 8 in March and April.
According to the online information, the price of the answers to the TEM4 ranges from 800 to 3,500 yuan ($117.19 to $512.72) and the sellers assure buyers they will get the answers before the TEM4 begins, and promised that the information is accurate.
A member of staff said if students want to get the answers during the exam, they could buy equipment from the companies, including watches, glasses, and invisible stealth headphones. A complete set of equipment is about 1,700 yuan ($249.03), and the equipment and answers would be 2,400 yuan ($351.58).
The TEM8 has a higher price, as they need "more professionals" to "ensure accuracy."
As to the source of the answers, the company said they had their "own way," like officials in the education departments and even some teachers from colleges.
One company said they could change scores after the examinations.
In 2008, the answers and some parts of the TEM8 appeared on the Internet before the test began. But staff on the testing committee denied that the TEM8 content was leaked, according to the Beijing Youth Daily.
The CET is for non-English majors, and the TEM is for English majors. Many colleges will not award diplomas if they do not pass CET4 or TEM4.
