European Union finance ministers on Tuesday gave the final approval for Estonia to join the euro zone next year.

The Baltic country of 1.3 million people, which joined the EU in 2004, will become the 17th country of the single currency area on Jan. 1, 2011.

The ministers agreed to keep current exchange rate for the conversion of Estonian kroon into euros at 15.6466 kroon to one euro.
