The third Krasnoyarsk international music festival opens on Friday, drawing musicians from 19 countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

More than 300 participants are expected to show their musical and cultural achievements at the six-day event, which is revived after a 17-year hiatus, the RIA Novosti news agency reported

Participants will be treated to an open-air gala concert, which will officially open the festival and will feature such world-class musicians as violinist Vanessa Mae.

The festival's program includes chamber music and symphonic concerts, folk and jazz bands' concerts, as well as theatrical performances. There will also be art exhibitions, film screenings and meetings with film directors and artists.

The previous two Krasnoyarsk music festivals were held in 1992 and 1995 respectively.
