China's Feng Zhe held his nerve to win the men's parallel bars title at the London Olympic Games on Tuesday before Deng Linlin and Sui Lu made a 1-2 Chinese finish in the women's balance beam final.
Deng Linlin, the 2009 world champion, scored 15.600 points for a routine - 6.6 points for difficulty and 9.0 points for execution.
"I made a mistake in the team event so this medal compensates for that. I have no regrets now," said Deng, who made errors in three apparatus in the qualification.
"My goal after 2008 was to have a breakthrough in an individual event. Today I made it," she added.
Deng is China's second Olympic champion in the beam after Liu Xuan, who also won gold at Sydney 2000.
Defending champions Sui Lu presented her routine perfectly, but a lower point for difficulty cost her chance to win in spite of the same execution point.
"I congratulated her (Deng) and I'm very happy because we are from the same country. She had a better execution score than me," said Sui.
America's Alexandra Raisman came up last in the final to win the bronze after a scoring change over difficulty, which helped her
overtake Romania's veteran Catalina Ponor for a podium place.
Russia's Victoria Komova, the all-around silver medalist, fell off the apparatus.
"I was not very lucky at these Olympics," said Komova, who sat on the mattress in her dismount.
"I don't know if I will continue (gymnastics) or not. I will go back home, take some time off and think about it. My parents say everything is OK, but I don't feel so," added the 17-year-old Russian.
China has collected a total of five medals in beam, its second most successful event in women's gymnastics, behind only the uneven bars with eight medals.
The United States reached the podium in this event for the third consecutive Olympic Games as their gymnasts took silver in 2004, and then gold and silver in 2008.
