Russia will showcase its fifth-generation fighter jets T-50 and Su-35S during an upcoming air show in Moscow, the manufacturer said Thursday.
The Sukhoi T-50 and Su-35S will perform, among others, the famous "Pugachev Cobra" at the MAKS 2013 International Aviation and Space Show, which is scheduled to run from Aug. 27 to Sept. 1 at Ramenskoye Airport, Sukhoi company said in a statement.
The dramatic manoeuver requires the jet flying at a moderate speed to suddenly raise its nose to the vertical position before dropping it back to normal flight. The jet uses potent engine thrust to maintain at approximately constant altitude through the entire move.
T-50, a multi-purpose frontline fighter designed in Sukhoi Bureau and built in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the Russian Far East, completed its maiden test flight in January 2010 and made first public appearance at MAKS 2011.
The August 1 Aerobatic Team of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force will also participate in the show with J-10 jet fighters, as part of an annual military exchange program between China and Russia, according to Chinese military officials.
The air show is expected to draw more than 100,000 visitors per day.
