Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Wednesday dissolves Serbian parliament, paving the way for early parliamentary elections to be held on March 16.

Based on the government's proposal, Nikolic signed a decree on the dissolution of the Serbian parliament and the decision to call early parliamentary elections.

On Tuesday, Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic gave Nikolic the government's proposal for dissolving the parliament, underlining that early parliamentary elections are needed in order to ensure broader support for the reforms and modernization of the society.
