Because Lantern Festival happens to fall this year on February 14, 2014, which is also Valentine's Day, sales of yuanxiao (sticky rice dumpling) with chocolate and rose-flavored fillings have gone up, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

At Huguosi, a famous snack shop, a manager surnamed Li said that they are selling about 150 kilograms of yuanxiao everyday, half of which have chocolate and rose-flavored fillings. The sweet soup dumplings are a traditional Lantern Festival food.

Some customers said that buying yuanxiao in these nontraditional flavors pays tribute to the romantic gifts traditionally given on Valentine's Day.
