A man surnamed Teng sustained burns over three percent of his neck and left shoulder while receiving cupping glass therapy at Beijing Zhuguofan Liangzi Fitness. He has yet to receive compensation for the accident, the Beijing Morning Post reported.

Due to the negligence of the therapist, the fire in the cupping glass ignited the oil remaining on Teng's back from guasha (TCM scraping) treatment. Teng said that Liangzi Fitness had agreed to pay 20,000 yuan ($3,258) compensation in cash, but that compensation for lost income and mental anguish would come in the form of a voucher. Teng said he would not accept the voucher or the amount of compensation offered.
