The Nippon Paint China Project Division recently held a building texture conference entitled, "Green and energy saving: Creating building texture appearance." The conference reviewed the evolution of building material coatings in the past 30 years, and explored the emerging trends for the future. To demonstrate these trends, Nippon Paint China gave a presentation on the appearance and effects of the latest 2014-2015 building facade coatings.

At the conference, the attendees fully endorsed the government's policy of creating green buildings. They also expounded on the significant contribution that carefully designed and incorporated building texture material can have to meeting green building standards.

From the past to modern times, the appearance of buildings has been enhanced with appropriate texture material like tiles and stones or other coatings. These days, we have cost-effective as well as environmentally friendlier decoration materials that are increasingly used to imitate stone and ceramic effects.

Edmund Yin, the general manager of the Nippon Paint China Project Division, said that the use of exterior wall coatings in China has developed rapidly in recent years. With the expansion of Chinese and Western architectural styles and modern construction technologies, building facade coatings have incorporated four trends: decoration, protection, energy conservation and environmental protection.

New coating materials not only have outdoor durability, but also have excellent stain resistance, which makes buildings look like new for a much longer time.

At the same time, most of these materials also have excellent environmentally friendly characteristics that are consistent with the trends in green building.

The Nippon Paint China Project has two texture systems that are enjoying growing popularity among customers. The two texture systems can be tailored to imitate natural granite, marble and many other kinds of stone-like texture effects.

These systems help with energy conservation and environmental protection. They can reduce heat transfer, thereby reducing indoor temperatures and reducing the load on air conditioning systems. According to Nippon Paint experimental data, these products under certain conditions can bring energy savings of 4-9 percent to energy consumption annually.

The 2014-2015 summary of building facade coating appearance effects published by the Nippon Paint China Project Division is based on 22 years of accumulated experience in the Chinese market supported by both local and international dedicated scientific research efforts.

As can be seen from the trends, environmental protection and energy saving considerations are increasingly becoming important, and building facade texture coatings are leading the general trend and fulfilling the demands of these considerations.

Market requirements are expected to increase at double-digit growth rates.
