The new Latvian government has been formed by a coalition of three partners -- the centre-right Unity, the centrist Greens and Farmers Union (ZZS) and the right-wing National Alliance. Seven ministers from Straujuma's (Unity) previous government are staying on in her new Cabinet.
In the new Straujuma-led government, Raimonds Vejonis (ZZS) has been appointed Defense Minister, Dana Reizniece-Ozola (ZZS) Economics Minister, Janis Reirs (Unity) Finance Minister, Rihards Kozlovskis (Unity) Interior Minister, Marite Seile (nonpartisan minister nominated by the Unity) Education and Science Minister, Dace Melbarde (National Alliance) Culture Minister, Uldis Augulis (ZZS) Welfare Minister, Anrijs Matiss (Unity) Transport Minister, Dzintars Rasnacs (National Alliance) Justice Minister, Guntis Belevics (ZZS) Health Minister, Kaspars Gerhards (National Alliance) Environmental Protection and Regional Development Minister and Janis Duklavs (ZZS) Agriculture Minister.
The first meeting of the new Latvian government is due to take place later on Wednesday, with President Andris Berzins expected to address the ministers.
