Good news for those needing to connect on-the-go: About 12,000 buses in Beijing have been equipped with free Wi-Fi. The bus account, named 16Wi-Fi, can be accessed on board. No password is needed, the Beijing Daily reported.

Wang Peiqin, an official involved in the Wi-Fi project, said the wireless network card installed on the buses is 4G. The free Wi-Fi enables up to 40 passengers to surf the web and view video at once for unlimited access time. Wang said that they will upgrade the connection on Beijing's bus system after the fare increase later this month.

Also as a result of the fare hike, 18,000 bus signs will be replaced, the names of 460 stations will be changed, and 877 stations will be added, according to the Beijing News.
