A decorated archway, or pailou, is currently under construction near the entrance of Xisi Railway Station of Line 4, and is expected to be completed before the Spring Festival (February 19), the Beijing Morning Post reported.

The archway is about 8 meters high, supported by four red pillars. Gao Wei, secretary-general of the Beijing Folklore Society, said that there used to be four decorated archways in the area that served as landmarks for location and orientation purposes. They were removed in the 1950s because they made it inconvenient for traffic in the area.
