A six-part documentary called Shichahai's Stories, which describes the history and architecture of the neighborhood surrounding Beijing's three major lakes, Shichahai, Beihai and Houhai, debuted on a Beijing TV station on December 19, according to the Beijing Times.

The documentary interviews more than 100 people including artists, writers, historians and old residents.

The documentary introduces the unique role of Shichahai in Beijing's traditional culture and traces the way local residents have renewed its culture over hundreds of years.
